Essence Lances Is an updated version of Lightning Aura. It is the second to most powerful spell, Purifying rain, and thus takes not only alot of magic, but alot of escence too.. This is the same attack that Kyshakks use, and it causes a lightning aura, causing magical damage to the affected over a period of time untill the effect fades away.
